Thomas Joseph Batey, Jr.A Peddler is born; Thomas Joseph Batey, Jr. entered this world on August 25th 1936, to the proud parents, Florence Conyers Batey, an R.N. and Thomas Joseph Batey, Sr., a Peddler. He was raised in Nashville, Tennessee with his four brothers and two sisters. He graduated from Father Ryan High School on June 1, 1954. He entered the United States Navy on August 15, 1955 and he was discharged honorably on September 15, 1957.

On September 16, 1957, Tom began college at his Alma Mater Jacksonville State University. He graduated on May 30, 1963 with a Business Degree and ended his Republic Steel career.

He worked a brief time at Casey Enterprises before finding his true passion for Ground Engaging Tools and went to work for a Supply Company where he worked eleven years mastering his trade.

Tom and his partner and cousin, Jimmy Sanders started Batey and Sanders, Inc. on July 1, 1977, selling Ground Engaging Tools and Road Building supplies. Tom built the business to what it is today and has two locations.

Tom and his wife, Beverly have four daughters, three son- in-laws and four grandchildren.
