The Ed & Charlotte Rogers Scholarship
Fund
The Ed and Charlotte Rodgers Scholarship Fund
was established by the Alabama Road Builders Association in 1978
to promote excellence in Alabamas transportation construction
industry. Since its inception, the fund annually awards grants
to students with exceptional pre-engineering academic standings.
Those students eligible to apply for a scholarship
must be full-time civil engineering students who have completed
their freshman year, have a satisfactory grade point average,
are in good academic standing with the university and demonstrate
some financial need. Scholarships are awarded in consideration
of accomplishments in student, community, honorary or service
organizations, excellence in academics and demonstrated leadership
qualities.
All applicants are received by a committee comprised
of faculty members from the Departments of Civil Engineering
at Auburn University and the University of Alabama. The committee
usually selects three to five applicants for each scholarship
to be awarded. The applicants are submitted to the Ed and Charlotte
Rodgers Scholarship Fund trustees for review. The trustees in
turn recommend their selection(s) to the Alabama Road Builders
Association board of directors for final approval.
To apply for a scholarship, complete the application
form and return it to the Alabama Road Builders Association.
Additional application forms can be obtained from the Civil
Engineering Departments at Auburn University and the University
of Alabama. Applicants must include a recent photograph and
a one-page letter about yourself including the reason you are
applying. The deadline for application is April 1. Recipients
will be notified by July 1. Final candidates in the selection
process may be invited to Montgomery for a personal interview.
All winning scholarship recipients are invited
to attend the annual Alabama Road Builders Association Luncheon
in September to be presented to the full membership in recognition
of their outstanding academic achievements.
